Summary/Abstract: Between 2004 and 2024, Spanish as a foreign language has consolidated its presence in the Czech education system, especially in secondary education, where the majority of students studying Spanish as a foreign language are concentrated. The study analyses this development on the basis of official data from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic, identifying historical, educational and social factors that explain its expansion and suggesting measures to encourage its continuation at all levels.
