Summary/Abstract: The EU Green Taxonomy is an innovative regulatory framework designed to channel investments towards sustainable activities and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. This paper examines the taxonomy’s impact on two strategic sectors – energy and transport – with a particular focus on the Bulgarian context. In the energy sector, the analysis highlights opportunities for the accelerated adoption of renewable energy sources, improvements in energy efficiency, and the gradual reduction of dependence on coal and fossil fuels. In the transport sector, the focus is placed on the prospects of electromobility, the expansion of charging infrastructure, the use of alternative fuels, and the role of rail transport in the decarbonisation process. The study identifies key challenges for Bulgaria, including the need for significant investments, the adaptation of the legislative framework, and the overcoming of technological and institutional barriers. The paper concludes with policy recommendations and strategic guidelines aimed at ensuring the successful integration of the taxonomy into national practices and supporting the sustainable development of the country’s transport and energy systems.
