Summary/Abstract: Hospitality is one of the fastest-growing global industries and a major contributor to energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. Achieving a sustainable energy transition in tourism is therefore central to the broader vision of a climate-neutral future. This publication examines current energy challenges in the hospitality industry, focusing on hotels and restaurants explores pathways toward sustainable solutions. Case studies of renewable-powered operations, energy efficient accommodation, and community-based energy projects highlight both technological innovations and practical implementations. The analysis also identifies key barriers including financial constraints, technological readiness, and policy challenges – as well as enablers such as supportive regulation, digital energy management, and growing tourist demand for greener options. The paper concludes with a forward-looking vision for sustainable tourism energy systems, emphasizing the need for integrated approaches, cross-sectoral partnerships, and management innovation.
