Summary/Abstract: Tourism is a key sector in the Bulgarian economy. Domestic tourism is a basic part of it. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it proved its importance in overcoming the consequences. The current paper aims to present the main trends in public attitudes of the Northeastern region residents toward domestic leisure tourism in Bulgaria. Data from a national representative survey is used and a statistical analysis using different indicators is performed. The results show the number of Northeastern residents that practice domestic leisure tourism and the main reasons for that. Conclusions and recommendations are given at the end.
