Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to reconstruct the scope of the concept of “power” for the Bulgarian language consciousness according to Bulgarian proverbs. Reflecting a naive view of the world, the Bulgarian language personality correlates this concept primarily with the area closest to it – the semantic concept of “domination”. The semantic features of this area have been discussed. Conclusions about the mentality of Bulgarians a couple of centuries ago have been made on the base of the mentioned reconstruction.
