Summary/Abstract: The article sheds light on the pedagogic and academic activity of the two outstanding teachers and scholars – professor Miroslav Yanakiev (Bulgaria) and assistant professor Nadezhda Vasilevna Kotova (USSR/Russia), who have been teaching for decades at the Moscow State University “M. V. Lomonosov”. The author is their student (1973–1978) and then a colleague and she shows in detail the specifics and innovative features of their methodology in teaching Bulgarian as a foreign language. Meanwhile their talents in communication with the students and the warmth of their personalities are depicted. They taught their students both practical and theoretic Bulgarian language, they exemplified demanding and accurate attitude to the language facts and the necessity of permanent widening of the humanitarian outlook.
