Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the key role of blood, filial and ecclesiastic kinship in the Russian Old-Believers communities in Bulgaria and Romania. Special attention is paid to the relationship between the old and the young generations, often manifested as the opposition of the past and modern times. The older relatives (grandmothers, grandfathers, parents, God parents, etc.) are those who keep the folk knowledge, support it and translate it to their youngsters. Kinship is the core topic in presenting of oral history (migration of the Old-Believers), in interpreting the sacred religious knowledge and practice, the signs of the time of Apocalypse, as well as in constructing the order and hierarchy in the community and transferring the folk knowledge. The article illuminates the didactic and informational folklore manifestations of the kinship. To delineate this subject the new author's data from 2006 and 2007, based on the field research in Old-Believers settlings on the Balkans, are used.
