Summary/Abstract: Recently in Romania, within the Romanian Orthodox Church, contrasting attitudes have resurfaced regarding the recent history of the Romanian Church United with Rome, bringing to light—if that were still necessary—contradictory views that reopen deep wounds. What happened? On the evening of 23 October 2017, the official TV channel of the Romanian Orthodox Church broadcast a documentary titled “Patriarch Justinian Marina. The Reunification of the Romanian Orthodox Church”, which presented a perspective based on a communist‑ideological narrative, entirely offensive toward the Romanian Church United with Rome. The abusive reunification of Greek‑Catholic Romanians with the Orthodox Church, orchestrated by the communist authorities, was exalted as a form of “divine pedagogy.”
