Summary/Abstract: The introduction of the Digital Services Act marks a turning point in online content regulation, with many countries now adopting a more proactive approach to preventing illegal and harmful content on online platforms. Reports of illegal and harmful content increase each year. This highlights the insufficiency of online platforms’ efforts in addressing these issues and underscores the need to shift from a self-regulation model to stricter government intervention. Naturally, each country develops its own approach to regulating online content, focusing on and prioritizing specific types of harmful content. In Albania, despite the growing use of the internet, progress in online safety remains slow, and the regulation of online content is still in its early stages. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in Albania regarding online content regulation, highlighting key challenges and proposing recommendations to advance regulatory efforts.
