Summary/Abstract: This study explores the central role of the Holy Spirit in the two-volume work of Luke – his Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles – often referred to as the Lucan Diptych. The paper provides an overview of Lucan pneumatology, emphasizing the Spirit’s pivotal function in both the life of Jesus and the emergence of the Church. The narrative of Pentecost, unique to Luke, is analyzed as a theological and historiographical centerpiece, revealing how Luke conceives salvation history in three epochs: Israel, Jesus, and the Church—each inaugurated and propelled by the Spirit. Through a close examination of terminology, frequency, and thematic placement, the study demonstrates how the Spirit not only empowers Jesus and his followers but also emerges as the true protagonist of the Christian mission. While Luke's pneumatology is narrative and not systematic, it is nonetheless robust, portraying the Spirit as both the eschatological gift of the exalted Christ and the dynamic presence guiding the Church’s growth and proclamation. Ultimately, the Holy Spirit is presented as the divine force personally shaping and sustaining the history of salvation.
