Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on Inna Peleva's text from 2015 A Ballad of Boev, Seymour and the Cold War, in which the author comments on the emergence of the strange image of William Seymour in the time of socialism and his even stranger relationship with the Bulgarian intelligence officer Emil Boev from the series of the same name by Bogomil Raynov. By analysing the narratological structure of the two novels The Great Boredom (1971) and especially The Day Can not be Judged by its Morning (1981), the article aims to show how the possible interpretations allow the emergence of unsuspected meanings forty years ago under the pressure of changes in the context of its reception.
