Summary/Abstract: The article presents an interesting example of European spiritual unity. In an effort to present the Bulgarian revolution as part of the common European process of nation-building, Botev took a bold step – he repeated the feat of the Italian revolutionary Carlo Pisacane to convince the European public of the Bulgarian cause’s the rightfulness. Repeating Pisacane’s familiar actions, Botev naturally joined the list of martyrs who died for national self-determination and, thus, managed to show that the Bulgarian national revolution is an integral part of the overall European process.
