ADVANTAGES OF DIGITALIZATION IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Summary/Abstract: Digitization of public administration represents the improvement of the process through which public services are provided, communicate with citizens and manage citizens' data. The fact is that citizens in the countries of the Western Balkans, and especially Bosnia and Herzegovina, still face the obstacles of insufficiently fast or efficient ways of realizing these processes, which could be significantly optimized through digitization. Therefore, this paper analyzes the key advantages of digital transformation in the public sector, including efficiency, transparency, rationalization of costs, better decision-making and strengthening citizen participation, through a review of relevant academic literature, official EU strategic documents, as well as reports of international organizations. Special attention is paid to the comparison of the situation in the European Union and the Western Balkans in the field of digitization, with an emphasis on challenges and recommendations for further improvement.
