Summary/Abstract: Once a motif reserved for the Romantics, the nature has become a threatening theme for fiction dystopias authors of 20th century. One of them, Margaret Atwood, is known best for her speculative and ecofeminist prose such as her latest novel The Year of the Flood (2008). Her survival novels’ characters strongly relate to some of the female heroines from popular culture such as Evey from A.More’s graphic novel V for Vendetta, Jamie Hewlett’s Tank Girl, cyberpunk heroines by William Gibson, Stieg Larsson’s Lisbet Salander from his Millennium trilogy, Ellen Ripley from movie series Alien and Battlestar Galactica’s female viper pilot Starbuck.
