Summary/Abstract: The exposition spotlights the occurred education reform in Bulgaria, which brings a lot of changes in the secondary school such as amendments within the state educational standarts and curriculums. Thus a focus has been put on the obtaining of the key competences and the improving of the students’ abilities to use in practice their knowledge and experience acquired at school. The competences typical for present communicatively oriented training of Bulgarian are emphasized – communicative competence, functional competence, civic competence, intercultural competence. Research data, a result from a survey of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education conducted to indicate the efficiency of the new curriculum of junior and first high school level, are provided and analyzed.
