Summary/Abstract: The article clarifies the essence of explanatory reading, characteristic for teaching of literature in the 1930s, and derives the principle "from the text to the text" when studying the literary text. Individual aesthetic forms in the text are used to structure the analysis, as they are essentially a synthesis in which the individual elements are contained. The literature lesson is the literary text adapted for reading. Examples are given from "Bai Ganyo" by Aleko Konstantinov, "Geratsite" by Elin Pelin, "Pod Igoto (Under the Yoke)" by Ivan Vazov, "Tobacco" by Dimitar Dimov, "Zhelezniiat svetilnik" by Dimitar Talev and "Seraphim" by Yordan Yovkov.
