Summary/Abstract: Automated decision-making systems (ADMS) are entering the public sector more and more rapidly. These systems, based initially on algorithms and more recently increasingly on artificial intelligence (AI), provide enormous opportunities to process data more quickly and so support decision-making. ADM systems bring many benefits such as faster and more accurate decision making, application of uniform criteria, transparency and accountability, etc. However, they also pose many risks such as potential non-compliance with legal norms, ethical issues such as perpetuation of prejudice and discrimination, etc. This report provides a brief overview on the subject.
