Summary/Abstract: This work, whose ambition is to combine the seriousness of a scientific publication with the desire to reveal pages of religious history left by historians for those who see history as a living matter. Breaking with the link that ancient historiography had established with rhetoric, 19th-century historians initiated the process of professionalization and scientification. They treated the question of writing history as a question external to the specific work of the historian2, they demanded a clear separation between history and literature. It is necessary to be content with explaining the facts and expressing the substance. For them, literary style and literature are incompatible with scientific rigor and foreign to the search for truth.
