Summary/Abstract: The situation in education, science and research is one of the few bright areas in EU-Russia cooperation. The first treaty was prolonged and extended by mutual agreement. Within the Common Spaces platform the Research and Education Space is presented as the most successful area of cooperation. The initial goals of scientific cooperation were focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest and supporting the implementation of scientific outcomes in practice. This cooperation has definitely grown in terms of areas and programmes, number of participating researchers and of course amount of financial resources. However, this cooperation has not made impact outside the research community. Obviously, even information on the actual outcomes of research cooperation has not penetrated outside the research community.
