Summary/Abstract: The current competition of nations is deeply marked by the structural and functional reconfiguration of the system of international relations, mainly by the ongoing transition from unipolarity to multipolarity, and by economic globalization, based on large-scale investments and advanced technologies. The article presents some aspects of global geopolitical, geostrategic and geoeconomic evolution, in the context of many crises, taking into consideration that nowadays, behind geopolitical development stand specific geoeconomic considerations, centered on economic competition. But the Russian-Ukrainian war has shaken current economic models, dealing a major blow to global growth, widespread environmental damage, global food crises and fragmentation, highlighting the fragility of the international system. However, despite the crises, there are many opportunities, which China is taking full advantage of with its huge global initiatives, challenging the World, while the West led by United States tries to fight back, but unfortunately with projects without sufficient vigor and scale.
