Summary/Abstract: In an increasingly volatile international landscape, nations face the critical task of distinguishing allies from adversaries, making prudent decisions to safeguard their regional interests. Yet, in broader strategic considerations, it is essential to recognise that not only traditional alliances but also unconventional or "unholy" alliances can emerge, proving effective under the right conditions. Reaching agreements of this nature relies on shared interests, compatible visions, and an openness among involved parties. With the 20th-century order largely dismantled and a 21st-century system still in flux, negotiations are increasingly shaped by evolving rules and newly emerging power centres. This paper seeks to clarify the implications of these developments, providing insight into the new dynamics of engagement within regional and global contexts.
