Summary/Abstract: The article explores the differences in perceiving Polish and Chinese reality. The author relates to her own experience, when, for three years, she worked as a lecturer of Polish as a foreign language at Sichuan University in Chengdu. She states that in relation to the differences in perceiving reality by the Poles and the Chinese it is worth to broaden the notion of the language picture of the world by the culture picture of the world whose main element is the language picture of the world. A detailed analysis is given to the differences in perceiving objects, phenomena, objects defined by a certain lexeme, as well as their consequences in the didactic process and communication between the lecturer and students.
