Summary/Abstract: It is a re-edition of the classic 1982 publication by J. Dunin which proved seminal for further research in the history of literature and the history of bibliology in Poland, with an introduction by Jacek Ladorucki. The book is a response to the expectations voiced by the academic milieu which pointed to the role of the publication in the 20th-century literary output and its presence in didactics and research, particularly at the time of the Digital Revolution. ”The study has established itself in the literary canon for bibliological studies in most Polish universities. Book design as described in the publication, documented by evolutionary characteristics of individual components of printing, enriched with notes on the history of reading culture and publishing institutions, is a reflection of changes in the form and reception of published writing in the past. Paratextual materials described by Dunin create a system and play a significant role in the social functioning of literature.”
