- Summary/Abstract:With increasing age, neuromuscular deficits can result in impaired physical performance and increased risk of falls in those over 65 years of age. The main intrinsic risk factors for falls are age-related gradual decline in balance and strength/power performance, as well as other known factors. With the decline in fertility and the increase in the percentage of people over 65 years of age, additional studies are needed to develop exercise programs specifically tailored for the elderly, programs that can be easily implemented in clinical practice in home or nursing home settings. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the causes and factors that cause falls at this age and to prove the effects of a preventive exercise program based on two main pillars: the OTAGO exercise program and walking. Knowledge of the relationship between balance, strength, and power is important for identifying individuals at risk because deficits in these neuromuscular components are associated with an increased risk of injury and falls. In addition, this knowledge is of great importance for the development of special exercise programs adapted to the physical condition of individuals of this age group. Improvements in balance, strength and power are directly related to health and quality of life.

- Summary/Abstract:A recent ban by an important football federation on Ramadan, the traditional fast, to avoid running health and performance risks is a remarkable issue. Taking a 2020 Systematic Review (Abaïdia, et al., 2020) as a starting point, we observed and analysed whether in the evaluation of some parameters collected through GPS instrumentation, they could be influenced by religious practice. The study was conducted on footballers belonging to the senior category of a 1st Division Saudi professional football team. There were seventeen matches analysed, divided as follows: 1) seven in the pre-fasting period; 2) three in the fasting period; 3) seven in the post-fasting period. The subjects analysed were divided into two categories. The fasting group, footballers of Muslim faith who practiced it regularly, and the non-fasting group, footballers of non-Muslim faith who had not changed their eating habits during the analysed period. In the literature, in any case, the link between fasting as a religious practice and physical performance in professional football has not been sufficiently investigated. Moreover, in a period, the current one, where the practice of scheduled fasting is taken into consideration even without religion. For this reason, in our opinion, further investigations are necessary before incurring bans which could be counterproductive, from a motivational point of view, in a global vision of the athlete.

- Summary/Abstract:It may happen that heavy training has a positive effect on the athlete's performance, but on the other hand it can have a negative effect, in terms of the risk of injury to these players, in different parts of the body. An essential element in improving volleyball performance is balance training, which also has a positive effect on improving posture problems in volleyball players. Balance training has the potential to improve performance in selected components of muscle development by focusing on balance training, muscle strength, power, and movement speed during directional changes. Thus, the main focus of this paper was the improvement of physical parameters such as: strength and balance, in young volleyball players through the programs and protocols evidenced in the literature. Studies were selected to review protocols for measuring balance and posture, and exercise programs that have been used to improve balance, strength, and spinal health. The literature used refers to electronic data sources, on websites such as: PubMed, Research Gate, Google Scholar, Scopus and mainly belongs to the last 10 years. Bearing in mind that the works cited in this material are among the quality ones that deal with the phenomenon of postural asymmetry, balance and strength, both in the service of scientific research and in the service of developing quality and sustainable training programs for the development of volleyball for youth, for both men and women, we have formulated and organized theoretical concepts and test and intervention protocols for the goals and objectives of our study.

- Summary/Abstract:The walking test, as stipulated by the regulations, dictates that there should be no visible loss of contact with the ground, and the advancing foot must be extended from the moment of initial contact with the ground until the vertical position. This paper proposes a comprehensive review of the lower limb profile of racewalking athletes, outlined through an analysis of specialized literature, by conducting a narrative review analysis. The analysis of specialized literature included a total of 35 articles, based on keywords related to lower limb biomechanics in racewalking, movement patterns in racewalking, and muscular behaviour of the lower limb in racewalking. From the analysis conducted, we found that the hip flexors and extensors were the main generators of energy along with the plantar flexors, while the energy absorbed by the knee extensors counteracts the negative role of the knee flexors, thus reducing the risk of injuries by stabilizing the knee in extension. From a kinematic perspective, several studies have analysed the maximum medial/lateral rotation of the forefoot during the walking test, and the conclusion was that there are significantly increased values, which are an important aspect in monitoring the fatigue that can occur at this level. From a training perspective, achieving performance is supported by many authors based on the monitoring of certain measurable indices through systems that use accelerometers. These indices refer to measuring ground contact time, step length, and cadence. The biomechanics of the lower limb play a crucial role in racewalking performance, and understanding these principles can contribute to optimizing training and performance in this specific athletic event.

- Summary/Abstract:Through its programs, aerobic training has now assumed the characteristics of a societal phenomenon related to sports, physical activity, and health. The goal of the study is to critically evaluate previous studies that have looked at how aerobic exercise affects a soccer players VO2 max quality. Within this framework, maintaining control over the degree of a chosen physical ability is a fundamental problem, particularly during sporting events. We looked through Google Scholar, Pub Med, CrossRef, Scopus, and other databases to find all pertinent papers. In this search, the following keywords had been typed in: "aerobic training", "aerobic dance", "soccer", "VO2 max", "soccer performance". Articles were searched using their titles, abstracts, and full contents in order to eliminate those that did not fit the previously given criteria. For aerobic training in natural forms of movement or in its naturally stimulated forms, a considerable number of studies were found recently published. These researches studied the effects and changes brought about by aerobic training of different forms in young soccer players. The effects of modern aerobic regimens have been widely researched and examined in relation to population health. Soccer players of all skill levels are finding aerobic training to be an effective training technique, and that the program, in all of its versions, has effectively addressed the unique demands of the game. In summary, aerobic training improves soccer player indicators.

- Summary/Abstract:Moderate-intensity exercise significantly reduces the incidence of falls in older adults. Additional extensive research is necessary to evaluate the efficacy of group exercise programs in community environments for at-risk older adults, particularly for enhancements in physical functioning and fall prevention among this demographic. This study seeks to evaluate the effects of a year-long group exercise program, supplemented by home-based exercises, on balance, muscle strength, response time, physical functioning, health conditions, and the decrease in fall incidence in at-risk older individuals living in nursing care facilities. Studies suggest that exercise regimens may improve strength and gait endurance, perhaps reducing the frequency of falls in healthy, undamaged older persons. This study utilized a literature review methodology focused on an extensive examination of research, primarily from the past decade, regarding the effects of walking and strength training on balance in the elderly, fall prevention, and related hypotheses and validated questionnaires. This comparative review of around 56 articles regarding the effects of walking and strength training on balance and fall prevention in the elderly provides a basis for future research. The integration of a group fitness program, supplemented by home-based activities, is expected to improve balance and reduce the incidence of falls among the elderly.

- Summary/Abstract:Sport, in addition to developing physical skills, has numerous psychological and social benefits. Important life skills, including collaboration, goal-setting, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, time management, and cognitive, emotional, communication, and social abilities, may all be taught to young people through it. A special place is given to the psychological research on training in the context of performance sports, which borders the physical education departments and adds valuable knowledge and strategies to help achieve the desired outcomes. Research on competitive performance is becoming increasingly time-consuming but also very beneficial to coaches as well as sports psychologists. Age, weight, muscular mass, and flexibility all have an impact on athletic performance. Success is dependent on work and interest in the activity, along with the previously listed qualities, so we would want to go deeper into the subject at hand. In this article, we start with the theoretical premises, but also based on personal experience over many years, that the method used for psychological planning in general, as well as the use of mental preparation techniques, can make the distinction among athletes and significantly improve sports results. As a result, I believe that well-designed research can help identify and capitalize on athletes' psychological and social potential in training as well as competitions, as well as evaluate and improve the efficiency of applied study techniques and methods, which are described in detail in the methodology section.

- Summary/Abstract:Enhancing both the physical and mental well-being of students elevates their mood, focus, and productivity, thereby augmenting their capacity to assimilate knowledge. Understanding the psychological dimensions of motricity is essential to appreciate the intricate relationship between motor capabilities and cognitive mechanisms. Additionally, fostering a supportive environment that encourages regular physical activity not only improves students' physical health but also enhances cognitive functions, such as attention retention and problem-solving skills. By acknowledging the holistic nature of human development, educators can create enriching learning environments that nurture both mind and body, supporting comprehensive growth and academic success. Our study conducted a systematic review examining the relationship between coordination skills and cognitive abilities in children aged 6-12, evaluating the effectiveness of existing research on this topic. The primary goal of this research was to empirically substantiate the connection between the progression of cognitive aptitudes and coordinative motor proficiency, demonstrating how these elements can mutually reinforce each other in primary school-aged children. The analysis identified intervention protocols combining coordinative exercises with visual arts, perceptual tasks, attentional activities, and creativity-enhancing exercises, all integrated within the physical education curriculum. This study corroborates the view incorporating coordinative exercises into physical education at the primary school level, which significantly enhances the developmental trajectory of cognitive skills.

- Summary/Abstract:Sport has a significant impact on the economy, both locally/nationally and globally, ranging from job creation and income generation to tourism and trade promotion. The basic approach to calculating the economic effects of sport across the EU is by expanding national Input-Output tables by sport-related sectors. The creation of a national Input-Output table for Albania will mean that all sports content will be extracted from the original sectors to form additional sectors, such as the construction of sports facilities, marketing, production of sports equipment, as example mechanisms that combine sport and economic development. The main goal of this study is to create a stable data base to serve as a reference point for subsequent analyses and generate a comprehensive assessment of the size of the added value related to sports and employment sectors in Albania. This study can also encourage methodological discussion between countries in the region and EU countries, which in turn can increase the quality and comparability of national assessments through SSA. The data collected for this study show that the responsible institutions in the country for the sports sector do not possess the mechanisms to extract all the figures related to sports while maintaining the structure of the National Accounts, which serve as the main point of reference for the drafting of economic policies at the national macro level and are normally kept by a country's statistical office.

- Summary/Abstract:Football clubs' strategic performance should be evaluated as an important topic in gaining a competitive edge compared to focusing on the financial aspects of a club's operations, as it has traditionally been done. Sports managers are increasingly turning to strategic technologies to obtain accurate and reliable information on their teams' performance. The article will use an empirical quantitative research strategy using economic and non-financial data. The club's strategic success can be evaluated using non-financial data and information, as opposed to the traditional review of financial data and information. Financial perspective metrics increased, but other perspectives—like growth, education, internal operations, and customer service for children and juniors—showed dismal results. A effective strategic performance evaluation instrument has been created to incorporate the effects of the four perspectives in both business and sporting sectors. Our research shows that because the Romanian sports industry is so large and includes the sale of media ownership and sponsorship deals, the technique of evaluating its performance has become more complex and requires more attention. Professional sports teams are constantly competing with one another to attract and keep customers. Everyone has an obligation to deliver services to the end user and manage the data flows that accompany those services. As a result, we discover that the sports industry is a reduced financial equation that includes stadiums as well as practice grounds, which represent the capital invested and the financial outcomes achieved, such as matches sold to customers and broadcast via television and radio.

- Summary/Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted most aspects of daily life. In the spring of 2020, the incidence rate of Sars-CoV-2 increased rapidly in Romania and throughout the world. During that period, the access points for physical activities (sports clubs, swimming pools, gyms, community centers) could no longer carry out their activity. For the next 2 years, schools were temporarily closed and social distancing measures were instituted to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus. To avoid the negative effects of the lockdown, the education administration resumed face-to-face teaching for the 2020-2021 school year and made many changes, including rules and recommendations for a safe return to school. National and international organizations have issued basic principles and guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 when educational institutions reopened. The decline in physical activity has been linked to Covid-19 restrictions, including social distancing, disruption of school hours, distance learning and increased sedentary time for children. These changes were seen as a real challenge in physical education. These social restrictions and the temporary closure of the school affected the physical condition of the children. In this research, we will analyse and compare how the Pandemic affected the motor capacity of the 6th grade students from the Bucharest Secondary School No. 2, respectively the 2020-2021, 2021-2022 school years.

- Summary/Abstract:Physical exercise plays a critical role in managing and preventing colorectal cancer, significantly influencing survival, quality of life, and disease progression. This preliminary study evaluated 11 subjects (mean age: 65 years), including 6 with colorectal cancer and 5 with high-grade dysplasia. Functional, haematological, and biochemical assessments focused on inflammatory markers’ response to physical activity. Assessment tools included the SF-36 questionnaire for quality of life, the Karnofsky Performance Status Scale for functional capacity, and the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire for health status. Inflammatory markers, such as IL-6 and fibrinogen, were also analysed alongside hemogram, Quick time, and APTT. A physical exercise program was implemented with the purpose of reducing fatigue, improve postural control, fitness, muscle strength, range of motion, and enhance overall quality of life. Functional capacity improved in 8 out of 11 patients (72.72%), with blood parameter changes observed in hemogram (27.27%), APTT (18.18%), fibrinogen (9.09%), and IL-6 (9.09%). Quality of life improvements were recorded in 90.91% (SF-36), 100% (Karnofsky scale), and 100% (EQ-5D-5L) of patients. The study highlights that structured physical exercise reduces fatigue, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and pain, while enhancing self-confidence and the ability to participate in daily activities. These findings support integrating exercise programs into therapeutic strategies for colorectal cancer management.

- Summary/Abstract:On the occasion of the Career Initiation Course in the academic year 2023-2024, which was attended by 202 special-status officials working in the field of Public Order and Security, an analysis was made about the response to a series of attacks consisting of holds and strikes, but also defensive actions against weapons by applying specific Ju-Jitsu technical procedures based on throwing and joint techniques to gain forced control as a way of responding to operational situations. The study is intended for operational personnel who must be trained with the most effective intervention techniques in order to improve future operational activity, but mostly for specialists in the field in order to help them adapt to the learners’ particular features. Analysing the perception of basic self-defence elements from a beginner’s point of view gives information that can be used to guide future teaching approaches. The possibility of being equipped with a complex set of technical skills consisting of body-striking, joint-locking, throwing, forced transport and immobilisation techniques provides personnel at the beginning of their careers with psychological and technical-tactical safety. At the same time, in terms of teaching activity, we aim to constantly select and adapt our study programmes to the evolution of crime rates in our society.

- Summary/Abstract:Quality of life is closely linked to concepts such as standard of living and lifestyle. The standard of living represents the degree of satisfaction of the material and spiritual needs of the population of a country, of certain classes or of a person. Throughout history, people have had a deep understanding of the concept of quality of life. Since ancient times, it has been closely associated with an individual's level of happiness. Former professional water polo masters often face a transition period after retiring from their competitive careers. Withdrawal from sports can often lead to a sense of loss and difficulty adjusting for athletes. In contrast, engaging in recreational motor activities can have a positive impact on their mental well-being. These activities provide a sense of purpose, structure, and accomplishment, helping to improve self-esteem and mental resilience. Sport as an activity, the involvement of master players can really be an important activity in the lives of former professional athletes. For people who have dedicated a significant amount of their lives to competitive sports, transitioning from this lifestyle can be challenging.

- Summary/Abstract:Knee pain is a very common injury among runners, most of which are related to overuse or rather myofascial dysfunction. For this reason, the analysis of the function of the fascia system and its role in running is receiving increasing attention. Our study investigated the contribution of soft tissue mobilization with Richelli devices to the reduction of runner's knee pain. The subject is a 21-year-old male who is a recreational runner. He has anterior knee pain mainly during running. A functional examination of the lower limbs was performed. Pain was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) Hip, knee and ankle joint range of motion was measured using a goniometer. The Y Balance test was used to measure dynamic balance. A total of six manual sessions were performed during the study, each lasting 40-50 minutes. The aim of the connective tissue mobilization was to release connective tissue adhesions of the anterior and lateral muscles of the thigh, the gluteal muscles and the hip flexor muscles and to treat Trigger points. Based on our results, instrumental assisted soft tissue mobilization has been shown to be an effective treatment modality in reducing runner's anterior knee pain. The subject's initial pain score of 8 was down to 1 at the final assessment. There was a significant change in the increase in hip joint range of motion and an improvement in the subject's dynamic balance.

Methodology: The study was conducted in the period 2015-2023 and a total of 142 athletes of both sexes participated, distributed as follows (men aged 20.14±3.2 years; weight 75.59±13.26 kg; height 179, 93±7 cm and women aged 22.18±5.2 years; weight 60.68±8.69 kg; height 165.53±5.07 cm). Results: Age and gender specifics are considered when evaluating the competitors. The development of a normative basis for evaluation in training activities allows for modern scientific management of sports training, which is a prerequisite for the purposeful and effective development of athletes. From the scientific point of view, we should consider the fact that it is expedient to select the candidates whose aggregate control score is over 25 points. This division is conditional, and sports professionals should bear in mind that with higher criteria the minimum aggregate score may rise to 78.82% for athletes who score 40 or more points. Conclusion: Regular control during the training process and comparison of the obtained results with the prepared normative base allows for effective management and targeted planning of the training loads, as well as the use of various means and methods for reporting the effect of the applied training influences.

- Summary/Abstract:Studies indicate that maintaining a good level of fitness and appropriate body weight is crucial for the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of children. Good fitness reduces the risk of obesity, chronic diseases, and improves academic performance and overall well-being. Eurostat data shows that only 26% of children aged 6 to 9 and 22% of those aged 10 to 12 participated in organized sports activities in 2019. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 19% of children aged 5 to 19 were overweight or obese in 2016. The aim of this study is to analyze the importance of assessing fitness and body weight in preventing health issues among middle school students, focusing on prophylactic perspectives. Correct evaluation of these aspects is crucial for early identification of risk factors and for implementing appropriate physiotherapeutic interventions. Increased screen time and decreased physical activity can lead to an increased risk of obesity and associated health problems among primary school children. A sample of 166 middle school students from Oradea-Bihor County (Romania), including 84 girls and 82 boys, participated in the study, who underwent the following tests summarized below. The results revealed that the average weight for boys is 59.53 kg, while for girls it is 55.03 kg. The average age is 14.02 years. Additionally, the average BMI is 57.10 (percentiles), with boys having an average BMI of 58.23 (percentiles and girls 55.91 (percentiles). The average obesity grade is 101.13, with the lower limit being 90 and the upper limit being 125. Notably, 23 boys were found to be below the lower limit, while 27 were above the upper limit.
