Summary/Abstract: Quality of life is closely linked to concepts such as standard of living and lifestyle. The standard of living represents the degree of satisfaction of the material and spiritual needs of the population of a country, of certain classes or of a person. Throughout history, people have had a deep understanding of the concept of quality of life. Since ancient times, it has been closely associated with an individual's level of happiness. Former professional water polo masters often face a transition period after retiring from their competitive careers. Withdrawal from sports can often lead to a sense of loss and difficulty adjusting for athletes. In contrast, engaging in recreational motor activities can have a positive impact on their mental well-being. These activities provide a sense of purpose, structure, and accomplishment, helping to improve self-esteem and mental resilience. Sport as an activity, the involvement of master players can really be an important activity in the lives of former professional athletes. For people who have dedicated a significant amount of their lives to competitive sports, transitioning from this lifestyle can be challenging.
