Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to estimate the impact of wage inequality on the level of total factor productivity (TFP). For many years, researchers have been discussing what the level of income or wage inequality should be. There is no unequivocal answer to this question, as the terms 'fairness' and 'efficiency' can be defined differently. This paper reviews research and concepts related to the impact of wage and income dispersion on the economic level and economic growth. The methods of measuring inequality and their relationship with human and social capital were also characterised. For the empirical portion, it was hypothesised that for each Voivodeship, there is an optimal wage differentiation that maximizes the level of TFP. It was also assumed that this differentiation significantly fluctuates between Voivodeships. The results of the econometric analyses of the production function seem to positively verify the hypothesis. Economics and finance
