Summary/Abstract: The article presents the result of the analysis of 1000 sentences from the National Corpus of Polish containing the preposition ‚na‘. It proposes translations of the constructions into German in order to find equivalents in this language. Due to the fact that the Polish language exhibits more inflectional variety than German, one preposition can govern many cases. It thus has many more equivalents in German, including different prepositions in different lexical cases, or lexical cases which do not require the preposition itself. The explanation of the above phenomenon is based on the government and binding theory.
