Summary/Abstract: In this article, the functioning of the reflexive pronoun in German and Polish is discussed with reference to the presentation of the functions of the reflexive pronoun according to Reis and Haider. The examples given for the position of the reflexive pronoun in both languages are compared with reflexive constructions in Yiddish. Thus, the article aims to prove that the generative explanation of the phenomenon of anaphoric, lexical and medial reflexive constructions is universal for the German, Polish and Yiddish languages.
