Summary/Abstract: The issues related to civil law relationships, their occurrence, development and termination, as well as their structural elements form the subject matter of numerous studies in the Bulgarian legal doctrine. Notwithstanding the differences in the conclusions reached by the authors, the said issues are more or less clarified. At the same time, considerably less attention is given to the civil law obligation as a type of legal obligation, on the one hand, and as a part of the content of a civil law relationship, on the other hand. No general criterion is formulated that could substantiate the designation of a legal obligation as being a civil law one. It is the search for this objective factor which determines the civil law nature of the obligation that the present study deals with.
