GROWTH OF THE PRC'S ARMED FORCES IN GEOSTRATEGIC TERMS

Summary/Abstract: For several years, China has been the country with the greatest economic potential, measured by GDP. However, the development of the military strength does not go as fast as changes in financial and economic indicators, because it depends on time-consuming technological and industrial processes underlying the development of weapons and implementation procedures. This article analyzes the processes of modernization and expansion of the Chinese army. The main research question of the study is whether the Chinese army is able to face the US army and its allies in the event of a fight for hegemony, for which China is predestined by its economic position. From the point of view of geostrategy, it is important not only the quantitative and qualitative assessment of the Chinese army's capabilities, but also its deployment. The study is designed to supplement the knowledge in this area by presenting detailed data also in graphic form.
