Summary/Abstract: The article aims to summarise the main trends in the development of post-Soviet Ukrainian historiography and to place them within the broader context of contemporary challenges facing the Humanities, including the growing impact of “identity politics”. The author argues for the significance of contextualizing analysis of historiographical debates and supports the crucial importance of preserving academic freedom and open discussion.
