Summary/Abstract: In exceptional cases, restoration of movable stone goods requires their exposure to uncontrolled climate. Thus, conservation and restoration interventions will follow the steps related to a careful and well-developed technical process. The stela from Răhău is an example of these categories of goods that have been prepared for uncontrolled exposure but which, through repeated chemical treatments and adequate intervention, can survive the harmful micro-climatic factors in the absence of restoration. The main aspects that must be mentioned and that lead, most often, to the degradation of monuments are: weather, physical factors, temperature, solar radiation, the action of moisture and water (capillary rise), the phenomenon of freezing/thawing (one of the most harmful), wind, climatic factors and biological factors. The conservation and restoration proposals complied with the legislation in force, and the decision was taken on the minimum interventions to secure the support. Thus, we opted for the following stages: cleaning, consolidation, injection of cracks, volumetric refills (in the case of gaps) and edge cracking (where appropriate), colour integration and hydrophobisation.
