Summary/Abstract: The archival materials contained in Hajji-Sinan’s tekke holdings make part of the Oriental collection of the Historical Archive Sarajevo. The documents have been archivistically processed and arranged, and the materials encompass the period from 1592 to 1945; 31 archival boxes; 3.1 meters in length; languages: Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Bosnian; alphabet: Arabic and Latin. The Project of digitalization and microfilming includes the entire archival materials of Hajji-Sinan’s tekke holdings, which contain over 30,000 pages of written materials. The holdings contain manuscripts originating from the Ottoman period, which are the oldest and most valuable part of the holdings, as well as printed books, gathered in the tekke from its foundation, and documentary handwritten materials (silsile-namas, hilafet-namas, etc.). This project will significantly help us protect the handwritten and printed materials of the mentioned holdings, which present a very valuable source for researching the history of Sarajevo and it wider surroundings, particularly considering the fact that the holdings contain some rare written materials that cannot be found in other similar institutions in either Bosnia and Herzegovina or the region. We are of the opinion that this cultural and historical treasure, which makes part of the common cultural heritage of South-East Europe, needs to be protected and preserved as much as possible, particularly since it is not being held in the entirely adequate conditions, nor has it been adequately treated and addressed in public. The stated materials present the object of everyday researches, and they are available to researchers. Due to the manual usage, age and condition the original materials are in, they are in constant danger of further damage. Therefore, the electronic – and particularly microfilmed – recordings of the materials would enable us to protect the Hajji-Sinan’s tekke holdings in an adequate manner. Digital recordings on the electronic carriers, such as compact discs, would in most cases fulfill the demands of the researchers, enable a more efficient cooperation in the exchange of the documents with similar institutions in the country and throughout the region, and we would achieve the main goal of this project, i.e. we would be able to protect these rare and valuable materials from manual usage and further devastation. Creation of quality archival software, in accordance with the international standards for the description of the archival materials, holdings and collections is currently underway. In that way, the digitalized materials will be made available to researches via Internet as well. For start, the archivists in the Historical Archive Sarajevo have prepared a digital inventory of the mentioned holdings, in MS Excel, applying the scientific transcription for the texts written in Arabic letters, with the aim to make the IT technicians’ job easier.
