Summary/Abstract: Banská Bystrica is a beautiful city situated in the heart of Slovakia, with an impressive historical background.The State Scientific Library was founded in 1926 and its first librarian was a teacher, Karol Kiszely, a famous orientalist.Nowadays, the Library can be found in the historical center of the city. It is a modern library, with a multifunctional and multicultural profile, a place for scientific study as well as for cultural activities.
