Summary/Abstract: The study presents the waste management system in force in Poland and the related methods of calculating fees. Based on the analysis, we should assume that the implementation of the fee for waste through the principle of the pay-as-you-throw seems the most appropriate option to ensure reliability in paying for waste management services. Moreover, the experience of other regions in the world has shown that the system effectively supports the reduction of disposable packaging and creates incentives for at source segregation and composting.
