Summary/Abstract: Dictation is well known as a testing method, but it also has a potential to develop reflexion andself-assessment in students. It can be used as a support in formative assessment. There is a variety ofdictation tasks that can be adapted to any language. Most of these are based on an authentic text, inwhich gaps must be completed. Some reading-writing exercises incorporate body and voice modifications. The texts, as well as the tasks, are enjoyable and entertaining. The idea of creative dictations is to make students feel comfortable and let them focus on one specific spelling problem at a time.
