Summary/Abstract: Laughter is beneficial to human relations as well as physical and mental wellbeing. Humour could be constructive in teaching English as a foreign language, though it has some limitations. It may be useful to deal with stress and emotions as well as lack of motivation. It helps to memorise some information, yet it does not contribute to the overall progress. Concerning three theories of humour: relief, superiority and incongruos juxtaposition theory, we have a variety of exercises to integrate British and American jokes into learning. Such organization of humorous material also gives food for thought – it teaches culture and human behaviour.
