Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the relationship between photography and a certain form of censorship or, most often, self-censorship, generated by the tendency of some photographers to exaggerate and generalize beauty, completely hiding the ugly when presenting a subject, which, we believe, greatly diminishes the veracity of the image rendering, limits the objectivity of the photographer and decreases his degree of authenticity. Starting from here, the project developed, Timișoara – zero photoshop, wanted to capture the ugly parts, often reminiscent of communism, in the working class neighborhoods of Timișoara, in non-censored, ”non-photoshop” photos and show the true face of the city, without any makeup. It is, after all, our city, and we think the artists should assume it without censoring themselves, both in his splendor and ugliness.
