Summary/Abstract: Pursuant to the conditions set forth by the general of the Society of Jesus and Pope Gregory XIII regarding permission for the Polish translation of the Bible, Jakub Wujek’s (d. 1597) rendering was verified by a commission of censors both while the translation was in progress and after the translator’s death. In this article, the author responds to the research questions of if it is possible to indicate which books were edited by one person, if it can be established how many Jesuits verified Wujek’s translation, and what we can say about the course of work and the translation strategy adopted by the censors on the basis of textual research on the inconsistency in the changes in individual books of the New Testament.
