Maritime sociology in social change perspective - hopes and controversies

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present theoretical and methodological formulations of maritime sociology. The system transition, that is still not accomplished, inclines to formulate new questions and problems within this discipline. Processes and phenomena, that researchers of „see people’’deal with, demand complementary and polydisciplinary research. These are especially phenomena and processes connected with mutual relations, social change, systems of values and interests, as well as other important areas of economic, cultural, political, technical and educational life. Thus author indicates the lines of maritime sociology research, such as: sociology of maritime policy, culture, communication, education etc.
