Competitiveness of the Baltic region countriesin the context of international rankings

Summary/Abstract: Competitiveness of economy, like companies competitiveness, has not been clearly defined. Different researchers, while identifying competitiveness of economies, place particular emphasis on various issues. No doubt, irrespective of the ways of looking at the competitiveness of economy, it has been the object of interest not only of the world of science, but also of business and politics. Depending on intentions, there are various indicators enabling to define the level of competitiveness of particular economies. The following article presents the construction of indicators established by two organizations: International Institute for Management Development and World Economic Forum. On the basis of IMD and WEF rankings the competitiveness of the Baltic Sea Region, with reference to other economies and within this region, was assessed.
