Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of a survey conducted among first year students of English at Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin. The aim of the survey was to explore and better understand the reasons why students decide to switch off their cameras during online classes. The author discusses the importance of a holistic approach to students in remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to enhance communication and mutual relationship.
