Summary/Abstract: The article presents the basic assumptions of Rev. Bronisław Markiewicz’s pedagogy. Rev. Markiewicz was one of the outstanding Polish educationalists of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries; his pedagogical thought even today still fascinates many educationalists, making them masters of education. The text points to the unique character of Rev. Markiewicz’s pedagogic assumptions that is expressed in a really inventive way of using the traditional values of selfrestraint and work. The author also points to the possibility of using Rev. Markiewicz’s pedagogy in modern pedagogical work, as it is a remarkably valuable “tool” in the process of shaping mature and harmonious personality in young people – a personality of good Christians and honest citizens. Material and methods. Analysis of source materials and studies. Results. Indication of the value of B. Markiewicz’s pedagogy in relation to contemporary educational needs. Conclusions. The need to disseminate among educators the thought and educational activity of B. Markiewicz.
