Summary/Abstract: In the context of organising physics research in Czechoslovakia, the paper presentsa fragment of the 1946–1948 correspondence of two Czechoslovak physicists, Jindřich Bačkovský(1912–2000) in Czechoslovakia and Vladimír Vand (1911–1968) in Great Britain, whobefore the Second World War had worked together in Prague at the Department of PhysicsResearch of the Škoda Works, Pilsen. The paper includes a historical introduction and anedition of 18 pieces of the correspondence.
