Summary/Abstract: With postmodernism, giving a message to the audience went beyond the function, and the metaphorical meanings of images, symbols and signs began to be emphasized. The boundaries between disciplines and materials have disappeared, and many artists have come to realize their artistic productions by making use of all areas of art. The concept of metaphor began to be used as an original form of expression with radical changes in the field of art at the end of the 20th century. Metaphor; It is accepted as the most effective of the metaphorical expression languages, which include concepts such as irony, analogy, allegory, and metonym, and it has turned into a concept that artists frequently use in their creation stages. This situation paved the way for metaphor to turn into a powerful concept with its intertwining with different art fields and its inclusion in the cultural structure of the society. In the study, the definition of the concept of metaphor and its formation processes, the processes of creating metaphors by the artists and how they use this concept as an artistic expression tool are examined through the selected works. In addition, the strong bond established between the artist and the audience with the images and signs used was examined within the framework of metaphorical messages.
