Summary/Abstract: In Romania, an important part of the history of women's emancipation has been influenced by the political left. Without denying the contribution of the socialist state to the acquisition of political rights and access to education or work, the integration of women in the communist system, propagandistic declared emancipation, has left deep and often negative traces in the Romanian society. Forced and artificial, the so called liberation did nothing but lead to a new, more subtle subjugation of the woman, who became not only mother / wife and worker, but also the maker of society. In this paper I want to remake and exemplify the way in which ideological decisions led to the construction of new feminine images and to a new condition of women in an ambivalent social, political, economic and cultural reality. Therefore, I want to explore the links between the gender policies of the time and the professional experiences of the Academia in Timisoara in socialist Romania from the perspective of the concept of gender.
