Summary/Abstract: The library of Neamț Monastery, which has its beginnings at the end of the 14th century (1367), being considered the oldest in the country, has preserved various cultural and spiritual values, including: 31 musical manuscripts of Byzantine tradition called Greek and, similarly, 23 Romanian manuscripts. The musical tradition of Neamt county fully deserves a “page” made on the basis of the manuscripts existing here, or spread from here, because they, the manuscripts, are an archive of hidden treasures, springing from the heart and thought of our ancestors. Regretfully, we have to admit that the psaltic musical values of Neamt County have been forgotten for a long time, and even now only few people want to interpret them, on the grounds that they are "too difficult" or that "they are no longer up-to-date!" The following Latin saying fits us, Romanians, very well: “Si sile mus nobis, de nobis ipsis silemus” - if we are silent, we are silent about ourselves.
