Summary/Abstract: The present article is an analysis of the Polish translation of La casa de Bernarda by Federico García Lorca (1936) by Zofia Szleyen (1968) in view of the cultural and linguistic otherness. Its purpose is to identify the agency of the Other in the translated text and emphasize the possible difficulties the translator may be confronted with, when working with a text whose dramatic and poetic load lies in a non-standard language characteristic of a particular region of a given country.
