Summary/Abstract: The study analyses the semantic features of the verbs with ‘be’ prefix within a functional-cognitive framework that can be regarded as neologism in the Hungarian language use. Within this group examines verbs that in the structure of which metaphoricity and/or metonymy can be noticed due to the appearance of the ‘be’ verbal prefix. The analysed verbs are the followings: becéloz, bedrágul, beerősít, beesik (a nézettség), begótul, beketyeg, betámad, bevállal, bevéd. The aim of the analysis is to present the types of conceptual metaphors and metonymies in the semanticsconstruction of the analysed words, respectively the possible functions of the verbal prefix ‘be ‘by making use of the relevant consultant answers of questionnaire surveys made in the past years.
