Summary/Abstract: The titles of works mainly have an identifying function – they highlight text among other texts. However, in addition, depending on the genre, the title of a work may also perform other functions. So, in the literary tradition of the author’s song, the title of the song is closely related to the text, being a kind of “introduction” to the text, it draws attention to its meaning, emphasizes what the author conveys in the text. Our article deals with the translation strategies of the song title by the Polish translators of the works of Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava. We analyze the trends we observe in their translation (omissions, substitutions, additions, literal translation) and try to give an answer as to how they affect the perception of the text.
